HHS CMS Awards SCG Evaluation of Medicare Program Vulnerabilities and Shared System Edits
HHS Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Awards Signature Consulting Group Evaluation of Medicare Program Vulnerabilities and Shared System Edits
The Office of Financial Management, under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), awarded a prime contract to Maryland-based Signature Consulting Group (SCG) to perform Evaluation of Medicare Program Vulnerabilities and Shared System Edits to address vulnerabilities identified during the Recovery Audit with the implementation of new edits at CMS’s shared systems.
Under Section 302 of the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006, Congress authorized CMS to institute a national recovery audit program that detects and corrects previous improper payments to providers. In addition, part of the corrective actions to prevent future improper payments is the installation of edits at CMS´s shared systems Fiscal Intermediary Shared System, Multi-Carrier System, VIPS Medicare System and the Common Working File. Currently, CMS has edits in place at the shared systems that are preventing previously identified improper payments.
