Signature Consulting Group (SCG) has been selected to present a case study about its development and management of the EthosTM Health Learning Community and Collaboration Portal at the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education’s annual E-LEARN 2012 in Montreal, Canada on October 9-12, 2012. SCG’s President Corey Cooke and Product Manager, Kishore Metla, will serve as learning system subject matter experts on eLearning panels and present a case study.
The EthosTM eLearning Portal integrates learning, content and information management systems to harness the extended learning features of social tools and Web 2.0 to provide a next generation learning community and collaboration platform. EthosTM integrates multiple systems that support future focused advanced eLearning enhancements by using open source technologies for portal management, Learning Management System (LMS) and Content Management Systems (CMS), along with a suite of collaboration tools that reduce development and operations costs with a zero license-fee approach.
Case Study Abstract
As eLearning users and methods mature, the boundaries of traditional approaches to learning are expanding to more self-directed, option-rich, flexible collaboration and communication channels that leverage social media to incorporate mobile and online methods of delivery. eLearning support systems and platforms must keep pace and anticipate innovations with a strong foundational framework and platform that´s reliable, extensible, scalable, interoperable and flexible enough to allow for future growth.
The article provides an overview of blended learning and collective intelligence integrated with the use of open source system architectures to develop a fully collaborative learning community platform that supports next generation learning. More specifically, through the use of a case study, the authors describe the challenges and lessons learned in the development, enhancement and promotion of a Health Learning Community and Collaboration Portal.
